Quick facts

How it works
The base game of Mega Moolah is deliberately old-school: five reels, three rows and 25 adjustable paylines set on an African savannah, with lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras and antelopes alongside the usual playing-card symbols. Wins are formed left to right along the lines you have active, and the maths is kept simple on purpose - this is a 2006 slot, and its charm is in how easy it is to sit and spin.
Two special symbols do the work in the base game. The lion is the wild: it substitutes for other symbols to complete wins and, crucially, doubles the value of any win it helps form. The monkey is the scatter, which pays in any position and unlocks the free spins. The game runs at a medium volatility, so ordinary spins tick along steadily without the long dry spells of a high-variance slot. But all of this is really the stage for the main event - the four-tier progressive jackpot that can be awarded at random on any paid spin, and which is the reason Mega Moolah became a household name.
The progressive jackpot
Mega Moolah is linked to a network-wide progressive jackpot with four tiers - Mini, Minor, Major and Mega. On any paid spin, at random, you can be taken to the Jackpot Wheel bonus. Spinning the wheel guarantees one of the four jackpots, and landing on the innermost segment awards the Mega jackpot, which starts at C$1,000,000 and often climbs far higher before it drops. Because a slice of every bet across the network feeds the pool, the Mega prize grows quickly, which is why it has produced some of the largest online payouts ever recorded.
Free spins
Three or more monkey scatters trigger the free spins round of 15 spins, with all wins tripled by a 3x multiplier. It is the main non-jackpot feature and a good source of mid-sized wins between jackpot chances. Free spins can also be retriggered.

How to play
Mega Moolah is one of the easiest slots to play - most of it happens on its own - but it helps to understand how the jackpot works before you start. Here is the full flow, step by step:
- Set your bet. Choose your coin size and the number of active paylines to set your total stake. Importantly, every paid spin is eligible for the Jackpot Wheel regardless of how big or small your bet is - a low stake still qualifies, though a higher one puts more value on each base-game win.
- Spin the base game. Play the reels and watch for the lion wild, which doubles wins it completes, and the monkey scatter. You can use autoplay to run a set number of spins with optional limits, since the jackpot can trigger during autoplay too.
- Trigger the free spins. Three or more monkey scatters award 15 free spins with all wins tripled by a 3x multiplier - the main way to build a balance between jackpot chances, and it can retrigger.
- Wait for the wheel. On any paid spin, entirely at random, you can be taken to the Jackpot Wheel bonus. There is nothing you can do to force it - it is purely luck of the spin.
- Spin the wheel. Once the wheel appears you are guaranteed one of the four jackpots - Mini, Minor, Major or Mega. Land on the innermost segment and you win the Mega jackpot, which seeds at C$1,000,000 and is paid as a lump sum.
You can try a demo of the base game to get a feel for it, but remember the live progressive jackpot is only in play in real-money mode. Set a budget before you start: jackpot slots reward patience and consistency rather than frequent wins, so decide in advance what you are comfortable spending on the chase.
RTP and the trade-off
Mega Moolah's base RTP is around 88.12%, which is low compared with a typical 96% slot. That is by design: a large part of the return is diverted into the progressive jackpot, so the everyday spins pay less in exchange for the chance at a life-changing prize. If your goal is a long, steady session, a standard 96% slot is a better fit; if you are specifically chasing a jackpot, Mega Moolah is the reason the game exists.

Play at Betty
At Betty Casino, Mega Moolah plays entirely in Canadian dollars, and any jackpot is paid in CAD with no conversion fees - which matters when the top prize starts in the seven figures. Deposits are fast with Interac, cards and crypto, and because a jackpot win is a large payout, it is well worth completing your one-time verification (KYC) early so a big cash-out is not delayed. The game runs the same on desktop and mobile, with your account and balance in sync across both.
New players can claim a welcome offer before they spin - see the Bonus page for current terms - and you can sign in through Login. If you would rather balance jackpot chasing with steadier games, the Slots page lists other popular titles with higher base RTPs. Because a low base RTP and a life-changing jackpot can encourage long sessions, set deposit and time limits first on the Responsible Gaming page, and only play with money you can afford to lose. You must be of legal age in your province (19+, or 18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec) to play.
